The running bit is actually a spoof of a spoof — the Lincoln ads are a play on McConaughey’s “True Detective” character Rust Cohle. Carrey manages to pull it off, though, wondering why McConaughey’s first act after winning an Oscar for “Dallas Buyer’s Club” was to star in car commercials.
